(Daddy categorized them while henry ate em ) Andrew 's 41st birthday came and went with out to much excitement and a final round of golf. WE finished a bunch of projects on the house (porch) and worked to get the dining room ready for its extreme makeover..Andrew's job looks to be changing.. stay tuned for more updates next month... September 2009 Farm Activities

Fall has arrived and we had to put the heat on... ugh.. gotta rake and get the house ready.... for
and here is the big news... are you sitting down when you read this.... if not please sit down... ok so you are sitting down ... Aimee and I are expecting our third child. (we don't know the gender).. We are excited and nervous as we will now be outnumbered...... we need another bedroom, car... etc.... Please send advice...

Other exciting stuff in september was andrew's golf game which took a turn for the better following lessons... I had a three round strech. of 82,81,79 perhaps I am in the wrong profession (I wish)
We had a great visit from Andrew's Uncle Bob and Aunt Irene.. We took a grand tour of the champlain valley hitting the teddy bear factory, champlain vineyards and shelburne farms harvest festival. The Newyorkers got to see the upper crust crunchies that come out for these kind of things.. lots of fun people watching

We seem to be running around in september like other months ,we harvested our small garden with lots of tomatoes (we avoided the blight some how)
The kids are doing great as henry started pre school and sophie is a "crazy girl"
IN early october aimee went to PA for some time with granny and andrew took the kids for a whirwind two day trip to boston and back to visit "amma" . Driving three hours with two kids was an adventure.. the questions you get ...

2009 August Farm Activities

All I can say is August was as crazy as july was.... the summer that wasn't a summer.. rain ... sun blah blah blah ..
so back to the key news items..
Aimee and I took a family vacation across most of the northeast.. it started with a visit to Bro in albany NY for a night then to Philly and Aimees grandfather.. this stop .. a two dayer also included a visit to the waterpark called sesame street. We saw all the sesame favorites.. I danced in the variety show with elmo and beyond that the only recommendation is don't take a 3 year old again. to crazy and they can't wait twenty minutes for a 2 minute thrill ride. If you are lucky(as we where) to get stuck on a ride with cold water dripping on you for 10 minutes consider yourself blessed.
None the less we had fun with Pop Pop .. off to hershey for lunch and a stop at the chocolate factory... We didn't stay long and then went to Aimee's parents for the rest of the week. Finally on the way back we made it to my uncle bob's in rochester ny for a evening thrill ride on his new boat on lake ontario... Long car rides where also fun.. as henry put it.. " Dad its taking a long time.... "

Aimee saw Henry's Godparent Kelly at her baby shower in ny and got caught up with old friends. We should have sent some redsox stuff along with her but since we are 8 games out its hard to make much of the rivalry..

August had a bunch of kid birthday party... who knew how much a 3 year party can be. so much ... (fill in the blanks)
.the end of august we made a visit to nh for labor day.. Andrew's golf game took a step in the right direction as I took advantage of a golf lesson and made some strides taking andy morison for 8 bucks at our annual "shattuck" invitational...

Big stuff in Sept
Henry goes to school.. yup 3 days a week with pre school at Hinesburg Nursery school. so far so good
Also in .Sept we start some more house stuff as we work to fix up the dining room and put in our new antique buffet that andrew's sister and mother found in Baukville NY and carried it all the way back to nh

2009 June/July Farm Activities

So I am off a month in writing but now I am back with big details...

June was a hectic month as I finished the porch project..

As usual it took more cost more money.....However it looks good and is now "safe" to walk on ... (it wasn't before)... I also took some time off for some golf.

As luck with have it I joined up with some canadien friends for the greater hinesburg open..

We had some serious hot shooting and wound up winning the tourney... the reward.. a 2002 raysbestos commerative knife... (I am not making this up) I am not sure the tourney director was a big golfer...

Aimee and I also made a trip to boston and we wound up heading to south shore for some golf with andrew's old friends and a beach day for the kids and Aimee's old friends.. A long day but fun to do.

We also had some visitors from the southern hemisphere. Our old friends Penny and Michael from south burlington vt who moved to South Africa, spent part of june staying with us along with other journey's to there friends and families. It was great to reconnect.

July flew by as I had my busyiest month in a long time. Spending 10 days traveling to GE brainwashing training in Crouttonville NY along with a trip to Oregon and Dallas.

In between we had a great week in Long Island with the kids and Betsy and Andy Morison visiting for a weekend.. We had perfect weather along with hours on the beach and a couple of golf games. (Big A took the money this year much to my dismay... .. I am slipping)

July ended with a surprise visit from Mom and her friend . We enjoyed some BVT sites and of course got rained on... I think we've had the wettest on record

May 2009 Farm Activities

Greetings everone
spring has sprung and work is underway at the farm... what started as a "porch repair" ended in aredo...of an entire section. I dug my first concrete piling hole.. and "jacked" my first roof. two hours a bunch of rocks and I had it done...just kidding fortunately I had some "expert" help from my old friend John and a neighbor who had the "jacks" .No speeding tickets this month although I am still waiting on NY state to send me what I owe them.. I wonder if they'll give me a bye since they haven't replied to my admission of "guilt" Andrew to took mom and kids to a mom's day brunch at Mary's in bristol.. Its a nice place however, the 5 course brunch (3 for kids) was a bit much as the "soph-a - loaf" couldn't quite make it through the 2nd course... she's learning.
The yard is shaping up this year as we have improved a bit with some not so "green" fertilizer and weed control. Vermonter's aren't crazy about the stuff but it does work. We also finally got rid of a piano in our yard. A word to the wise about these charity auctions. What's started as a nice idea for a vintage player piano turned a hunk of junk at the end of our driveway. (don't ask for the details) The MG made it out of the barn barely after andrew convinced the AAA guy that he could and should drive on the grass and help winch the CAR out of the bottom of the barn.

Aimee and I hosted a memorial day bar-b-que with some neighbors and grilled our first "hinesburger's" and hines-dog's.
Andrew made a small trip to boston for work and caught up with Mom for dinner .
Hope all is well

April 2009 Farm Activities

We are officially thawed out and we have survived our 4th vt winter at the Farm... although april had 3 days of snow... we are happy to see green again ... In april we had Aimee's family (jackie /ted) visit along with grandfather Wayne Scull (pop pop) WE celebrated a three generation Easter
During the week Ted and Jackie where put to work on Henry's new Swing set... A few days later and a couple problems caused by "questionable directions" and the kids are loving it.

Aimee and Andrew also did some NY traveling as Andrew had a fraternity get together along with celebrating mom's 70th b-day at agreat french restaurant "Aureal" . For somereason the NY police where in pursuit as I ended up with not one but two speeding tickets ... in sucessive weekends.... (don't ask how) Aimee also visited NY for a "french" reunion with some of her old HOly Cross friends.. (No speeding ticket for her)

Sophie hit a milestone in April as she has started to walk and has learned her first words "no" . ...we are working on this one.

We are planning some projects for the yard and porch this year ... if I only had more time..

March 2009 Farm Activities

Winter is almost over and we are relieved.....
We celebrated Henry's 3rd b-day and where out numbered in his part. 9 kids- 8 adults... This year's theme was race cars and the kids made there best impressions of cars... (bad idea)

Henry's favorite toy is a new bike .... he has become a daredevil...

the morison's and mom came to visit later and we celebrated again along with betsy's morison (andrew's sister's) b-day...

Andrew's reporting career started as his first volunteer assignment for the Hinesburg town record was the annual town meeting in March .. I made the front page!!!
http://www.hinesburg-record.org/past_issues/hinesburg-record-090328.pdf
. I kept it simple an am working to the real hard hitting stories once I get some experience

March is also sugaring season in vermont and we tapped several of the sugar maples ... the result 16 hours and 1 quart of syrup... I 've got the bug ... now I need some new equipment as the gas grill isn't enough...

Febuary 2009 Activities

The snow came then it went and then it came again... Vermont had one of its snowiest winters once again. ... not sure if its our fault or not ....but it made a mess of some of our travel plans to visit folks during the month.
We also had vistors as the Helhoski's (Paul , Tania , Soren and Solvi) visited during their family vacation and spent a couple of days. Andrew made it out skiing for a day .
Henry did some skating (well almost) .Sophie is almost walking (any day)
Unfortunately we cancelled our visit to south africa... the economic climate was to unsettling..
Hopefully we will go in the fall...
Looking forward to winter ending...

January 2009 Farm Activities

Happy new year to everyone..

Our 4th year in the old house started with a snooze... (we barely made it to midnight)

the weather is always interesting in january and this year was no different. (-19 was a record and we had more snow than usual) Fortunately we had no catastrophe's in the house or our car's

Family visitors came for late christmas and we managed to break out the "china" and enjoy a great family dinner together

We are looking forward to some travels and projects in the new year..

We have booked our travel plans to South Africa for a march trip and will visit our friend's penny and michael . We are looking forward to it

Hopefully we'll miss a snow storm or two

We had some sadness this month as Aimee's grandmom passed away . She was a wonderfull women who always kept us in her mind and heart. We will miss her.

The month had some fun as we celebrated Aimee's birthday (a wonderfull french meal) and Sophie's (a steeler victory in the super bowl)

As we approach febuary and another 6 weeks of winter (according to that famous porcupine) we 'll make sure to get outside and enjoy the snow while it lasts
